H Motor Solid Propellant Rocket

II designed and launched this rocket for my L1 rocket certification through the Stanford Space Initiative on campus. Assembled by hand and launched in the central valley of California, I ensured aerodynamic stability by finding the relationship between center of pressure and center of gravity, and calculated the apogee and flight time using hand calculations. The 201 newton * second specific impulse H motor had a 0.7 second burn and the rocket reached an apogee of 2050 feet in 8.15 second. Successfully launching and recovering the rocket earned me my L1 High Powered Rocket Certification from the National Association of Rocketry.

I hope to advance this project by building a thrust vector control system and proportional integral derivative controller to experiment with controlled flight.
